Tyler

Today it has been four years.

I just now (December 1, 2011) found this post that I apparently started writing on December 21, 2010. The very short above sentence is as far as I got that day....some days I remain in shock that he is really gone and there are just now words....

Winter Wonderland

I get to live in this winter wonderland everyday! Although the last week the temps have been SUPER cold, it is still an amazing place to live.

I really wanted to have some pictures taken of us in the snow before Matt deploys.
So, our good friend Sarah Rafeedie took a few for us!

You can see more pictures that the two of us have taken at: kairosphotograph.blogspot.com and sojournerphotography.blogspot.com.

Skhoop Skirt

If only this were not so expensive!! There are a few girls from work that I have seen wearing this skirt. It is perfect for these Alaskan winters. It has a zipper all the way up one side, so you can just zip it on over your regular clothes and then zip it off when you get to the warmth of the indoors. It is a coat for your legs. Amazing. However, they are quite pricey. So, I will just have to wait until they go down in price or I can find one on ebay I guess. But hey. A girl can dream about warm skirts that look like sleeping bags can't she?!

Thanksmas Presents...and more

These are the Keen hiking shoes that Gini got for me for Thanksmas! I am soo excited to go hiking this coming summer in them. For the last two years I have just been hiking in my tennis shoes. But this coming summer Matt and I are planning on hiking Crow's Pass, which is a 26 mile (2-3 day) hike. So, it will be very nice to have actual hiking shoes for that trek. I can't wait.
And the Dansko's below are from Heather. I had been wanting a pair for a while, but was always unwilling to pay the $ for them!! I put them on my Christmas list and Heather saw them on there. It turned out she had bought this pair a while back and ended up not liking them, so she gave them to me!
A new hat to wear is always nice to have since I have to wear hats so much here in the winter. I love this one that Gini got for me for Thanksmas! (she also got me a super cute wrap sweater...I don't have a picture of it yet though).
And then, Matt surprised me with an autostart for my car! The last two winters we have had a heated garage. So I have completely fine not having an autostart. This summer we had to move and now we don't have a garage. I still had been totally fine without an autostart, I would just make sure and go out to start my car early (or really Matt would make sure and go start my car early for me). So, when I came back from Thanksmas in Texas (I came back one day later then Matt), he had surprised me by having an autostart installed in my car. I have to say, I was fine with not having one...but now that I have one....I love it! It will definitely be nice to have while Matt is gone this winter :)
Gini also got me the book "Lineage of Grace" by Francine Rivers. Mama, Gini and Shelley had been telling me for a long time that I needed to read this book, but I couldn't ever find it anywhere up here and shipping costs way to much to buy it online...so Gini got it for and I am about halfway through it. Great book so far!

We had such a great time visiting family in Georgia and Texas. We spent 4 days in Georgia with Matt's family.  And then we went to Texas for 3 days to spend Thanksmas with my family. Neither one of us had ever gotten to spend a holiday with the other's family. So we were very thankful to get to spent Thanksgiving with my family this year!

I am so glad that I finally got to meet sweet Peyton Jo! Everyone was so kind and let me hold her A LOT and spend lots of quality time with her! Can't wait to see her again at the end of January (as well as welcome my new niece Jolie in to the world in February!).
These are four of the sweetest kids you'll ever meet. Love these guys so much!
The whole family.
The boys.
This picture is always a hard one to take. We miss Tyler so much. There is nothing that we do that does not remind us of him. I missed having his laughter and his jokes. He always loved the this holiday season and his Thanksgiving and Christmas spirit to add to the holiday are greatly missed.
The girls. Mama bought all of us girls aprons for Thanksmas!

Matt and his brother John and cousin Alex.
Matt's brother, Moses, and our nephew, Carter. So glad I finally got to meet them!
 Matt and Grandma Joyce.
 The Cornett family.
The cousins. Me, Matt, Ishi, Lara, Moses, Alex, John and a pseudo Deb,
Matt and his mom.
