Hungry

Since Tyler's death I have not felt "hungry" for God's word, except when I am down and when I am searching for comfort in His word. But I have not had a desire to just search His word to know Him more. That is, until the last few weeks. As most of you know, Matthew and I miscarried our baby back in late January. Although at the time the grief was not terrible or unbearable, over the last couple of months God has slowly worked in my heart to have a new desire to know Him again because of the pain of this loss. A desire to truly understand and know the powerful and sovereign God that I serve. I had been very content. Happy. Fine. Okay. And lacking desire to be nearer to the God. Thankfully, God did not allow me to stay that way. He does not want me to be luke warm in my faith. He desires that I passionately seek after Him and seek to know Him more. So often I rely on Matthew for my comfort rather than God. I am married to an amazing man. A man who is so compassionate, patient and kind. He is so good at comforting me and loving me that I tend to run to him instead of God. Since the miscarriage happened while Matt was gone, (Matt did get to come home for a few days right afterwards) I have been unable to rely on him as much for my comfort, and in turn God has reminded me that he is my comforter. And, God has renewed my desire to seek him and know his truth just for the sake of knowing him and loving him rather than only for the sake of finding comfort.

Sarah,
So sorry for you loss, and I wish my arms could reach from Texas to Alaska. Thanks for sharing your words. I love how the Lord always brings His children back to Him. I went to a women's retreat a few months ago and she suggested making a list (or google one) of the attributes of God. Then in your quite time search the Word for those qualities. She said it would help to worship who He really is, not just who we want Him to be. Thanks again for your words! (hugs) Psalm 51:12

I had no idea about your miscarriage. My heart breaks for you. There aren't really words that feel worth saying... so know I'd just hug you if we lived closer. Praying for comfort and healing.

Sarah, I didn't know about the miscarriage - I'm so very sorry that you had to go through that. I am praying for you and a healthy full term pregnancy in your future.

I can relate very much with relying on your husband for your main source of comfort. I am guilty of that as well. I lean on Todd too much, all too often. It was right after Tyler died actually, I had the biggest panic attack/awakening of my life when I couldn't get in touch with Todd for a long time and became convinced something had happened to him. Tyler's accident was fresh on my mind and I went into a complete panic one day. When I finally realized Todd was fine, he was the one who put me back into perspective that I could not live my life worrying and being so anxious that something was going to happen to him, and that when our stregth is coming from God, that anxiety and panic isn't there. I struggle with it a lot. I hope and pray that God will be what fills you up as you recover from this loss....sorry for the mega post!
